Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is an American television journalist anchor and anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. Following a childhood living in New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career with KYW Radio and TV as the Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). Then she joined NBC News Washington two years after that as general reporter. 1981 she started covering for the White House, and in 1988 was named Chief Correspondent to Congress. Mitchell was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell has been a panelist as well as presenter of the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the 1988 debates with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her role to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering in the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell covered a range of interesting stories such as arm control, budget tax reform and the Iran-contra scandal. She also went on numerous trips together with President Reagan for summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
